Malvern Flea Market: Vintage Decorating Ideas
Welcome to the world of the flea market!! I’ve been visiting Malvern Flea since the end of 2020 and I’m still in awe of what you can find. From timeless charming mirrors, weathered beaten garden ornaments to stuff for creating that cosy, inviting ambiance in your home, Malvern Flea has something for everyone.
Exploring the Malvern Flea Market
Located at the 3 Countries Showground, this is on the edge of the picturesque town of Malvern.
Held 9 times a year, the Malvern Flea Market is a vibrant mix of dealers who travel across the country to sell their wares. Some even rock up the night before so they can be first in for the best spots. With a diverse range of vendors offering an eclectic array from Art Deco, retro 50/60’s to true antiques. Whether you’re looking to renovate your home or just style one room, the market's treasure trove of unique finds is sure to leave you inspired and lighter in the pocket.
Dates left for 2023 – Monday 28th August, Sunday 17th September, Sunday 15th October, Sunday 5th November.
Navigating the Vintage Wonderland
To make the most of your visit to the Malvern Flea Market, it's essential to have a plan. Arriving early is always a good idea, as it allows you to beat the crowds especially when it’s a nice sunny bank holiday; those are always super busy.
I always start outside and make my way to the last row and methodically work my way up the field. There are paths through the showground so you can use those to help you zone an area knowing that’s complete before heading to the next zone.
The biggest vendors are usually near the entrance so make sure you explore right to the back of the market, as some of the best gems and bargains are often hidden with the smaller vendors.
Engage with the friendly vendors, as they can have some fascinating stories to share about their vintage wares.
Mixing Old with the New
One of the keys to successful vintage home décor is striking the right balance between old and new. Don't be afraid to blend your vintage finds from the Malvern Flea Market with modern furniture and contemporary accents. The mix of textures like an old patchwork quilt, vibrant colourful crockery, and rustic materials adds a unique spin and a sense of depth to your décor.
Look out for Celebrity Dealers
Bargain Hunt is normally filmed at Malvern Flea Market a couple of times a year and it’s always fun to spot the presenters. Last month I bumped into David Harper when he was waiting in the wings to surprise the contestants. He also plugged his Youtube channel – David Harper Antiques & History. It’s well worth a watch!
As you embark on your journey to decorate your home with a vintage twist, remember that personalization is key. The Malvern Flea Market offers a wealth of inspiration and unique finds, but the magic truly happens when you infuse your creativity and personality into your home décor. Embrace the beauty of imperfection and let the vintage treasures from the market transform your living spaces into warm, inviting havens that tell your own story. Happy decorating!
